NEET UG Counselling 2024: The first round of Counselling starts on August 14
A meeting was conducted on Tuesday at the Rajya Sabha and the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel stated that the government is trying its best to keep the momentum going by conducting the first round of counselling on August 14, 2024, as per the Supreme Court judgement.
As per the Supreme Court’s order, the NEET-UG counselling will be conducting four rounds of counselling and the final round i.e., the four rounds will be conducted on October 24, 2024. Anupriya Patel also brought forth the details regarding the number of sets available in both government and private institutions.
According to the data, medical colleges have increased from 387 colleges before 2014 to 731 colleges at present, which is an increase of 88% in medical colleges. Due to this, there is an additional increase in the MBBS seats too. Before 2014, there were 51,348 seats available and now currently in 2024, there are 112,112 MBBS seats available which is an increase of 118%.
The NEET results were announced by the NTA-Ntaional Testing Agency on June 4, 2024. After the release of the first results, the revised results were announced on the official website on July 26, 2024. After the release of the revised results, the MCC-Medical counselling committee announced a notification regarding the counselling dates on July 29, 2024.
The eligible applicants can start their registration for the first round of counselling in the first week of August. The counselling procedure is conducted online in a transparent manner to ensure convenience and accessibility to the applicants, this was stated by the state government.
